Job description
NOTE: This is a FULLY remote role, but the candidate must be within the European region to collaborate with their team, peers, and internal customers. You do not have to be in the specific country or city shown in this listing, but please only apply if you are physically based within the European region.
Hostaway is the market-leading SaaS scale-up transforming the vacation rental industry. With innovative solutions and partnerships with giants like Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking, we're taking on the competition and winning. Leveraging our customer-centric core values, we consistently deliver results that encourage growth, learning, and innovation for our team, our customers, and the industry.
As a profitable and growing company, this role is necessitated by our continued growth. Check out more about our recent funding round of $365 million here.
We're looking for a delivery-focused Engineering Manager to lead one of our most impactful product teams - the Booking Engine team. This team owns the platform that powers direct bookings for thousands of vacation rental properties, and touches both B2B (property managers) and B2C (end guests) experiences. From secure guest portals and upsells to SEO-optimized, high-converting booking flows, the Booking Engine is central to Hostaway's success. You'll guide a high-performing team, ensure timely and high-quality delivery, and create a culture of ownership, learning, and growth. This new role was created due to company growth, and you'll play a key part in scaling our engineering organization.
As an Engineering Manager, you will:
Lead and manage a product engineering team with a clear focus on delivery, ownership, and impact
Ensure the team delivers high-quality software on time, with scalable, secure, and maintainable architecture
Support engineers through mentorship, coaching, and career development — helping each person grow and succeed
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to align on goals and ensure successful execution
Foster a team culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement
Establish and refine engineering processes that improve delivery speed, system reliability, and team autonomy
Contribute to technical discussions and decisions, ensuring technical context and system thinking are always present
Partner with the Director of Engineering and other Engineering Leaders to shape org-wide practices and team-level performance standards
Job requirements
6+ years of experience as a Software Engineering Manager or in a similar position (CTO, Head of Engineering Department, Director of Engineering) with direct people management responsibilities
A strong foundation in software engineering — you don't need to write production code daily, but you're comfortable reading and reasoning about complex systems
Proven experience leading engineering teams in a product-oriented environment, ideally within SaaS or platform businesses
Ability to drive execution: aligning team goals, managing delivery timelines, and removing blockers
Track record of mentoring engineers and creating an environment where people can grow and thrive
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in distributed/remote settings
Comfortable working in agile environments with fast-moving priorities and cross-functional teams
Fluent English
Experience in remote-first teams and product companies (vs. consultancy/project shops) is preferred
